Amrut Kadhambam USA Release

When Ashok was over in the USA recently he announced the release of a Kadhambam specifically for the US market . This one differs from the previous release in that it’s at 50% ABV and it was matured slightly longer in one of the casks . Once again it is an un-peated malt that once again has been matured in ex-rum , brandy and Oloroso sherry casks.

Rum Review – St. Nicholas Abbey 10 Yr Old

This rum is one of the best rums of it’s kind I’ve ever had, and it will dent your wallet to show it’s no accident. Everything about it works: presentation, nose, taste, finish. Even the place it’s made has a romantic cachet and youthful exuberance that enhances the aura surounding it. You see this, you buy it, and buy it now.

But however and whatever they do, somehow the Abbey makers of this sterling ten year old have combined their accumulated knowledge and a production method of their own that surpasses expectations and have, I dunno, blessed it with the Force. And created a drink so all-round excellent, that if I was a Hutt, I’d sure as hell hire Han Solo to smuggle a few cases past the Empire.

Whiskies of the World - San Francisco

The San Francisco Belle was packed but the crowds were manageable at this year's San Francisco Whiskies of the World event.

Stuart Nickerson (Glenglassaugh Dist.) Raj Sabharwal (Purple Valley USA) and Jane Campbell (Purple Valley Canada)

Purple Valley was there showcasing some fabulous whisky from Scotland and India.

Both were met with high praise as whisky quoffers toured a world of whiskies.

Here are some comments:

Glenglassaugh: I tried the 26 year old and it was a well rounded experience. What was really interesting though was their new make spirit though. Getting the opportunity to try what comes off of the still before it is aged in a cask is a great experience.

Amrut Intermediate Sherry: Simply put, it was amazing! Even after consuming more whisky than I care to acknowledge, by the end of the night the Intermediate Sherry Matured still stuck out as one of the best whiskies I tasted.
