The Alexander Valley may be a great place for growing Cabernet and Merlot. But a grape like Gewurtraminer needs more temperate surroundings to develop its trademark flavors of tropical fruit and spice. That’s why we sourced the fruit for our New Gewurz from cool climate vineyards in Mendocino County including sites that have been organically farmed for some 40 years. In fact, the organic fruit is one piece of our efforts toward sustainable winegrowing, efforts that include equipping the winery with solar panels and using organic approaches in the vineyards. Those endeavors have been recognized by the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.
