"A lush, affordable Rose"

- Charles & Charles Wines

THE WINE:

Imagine a pool full of late season wild strawberries and raspberries with some sage, rose petals and a bucket full of watermelon Jolly Ranchers thrown in. Then imagine diving in. That’s pretty much what it’s like as you stick your nose in a glass of the 2009 Charles & Charles rosé. All those flavors carry through on the palate and into a bright finish. Like with the 2008 it’s made of 100% Talcott Vineyard syrah (Wahluke Slope AVA). The grapes were picked on the early edge of ripeness and went straight into the press (only juice skin contact was in the press). The winemaking was very hands off, allowing the site and grapes to present their story. 2009 was a riper vintage than 2008 thus yielding a slightly darker color and more depth on the palate.

‘08 LOVE:

If you happen to care about this sort of thing, while we wait for reviews on the ’09 here’s a recap of some of the things the press said about the 2008 rosé : 90pts Wine Spectator, 90pts and Best Buy Wine & Spirits Magazine, 88pts Wine Enthusiast Magazine, 88pts Stephen Tanzer International Wine Cellar.

THE PROJECT:

A collaboration founded in 2008 between Food & Wine Magazine 2009 Winemaker of the year, Charles Smith (K Vintners, Charles Smith Wines) and Charles Bieler (Three Thieves, BIELER Pere et Fils, Sombra mezcal). The label is an abstract play on the American Flag done by the well loved and historic Nashville, TN poster shop, Hatch Show Print.
